Driven
While freelancing at NZME, I produced an ad-hoc series of car commercials for Driven.
My first project was a $3K budget car review for the Lamborghini Urus, which I saw as a chance to create something visually striking. I maximized every resource available to elevate the production value. I wrangled my dad in as an extra pair of hands and gained access to the dragway for a box of beers.
As the series gained momentum, budgets increased, allowing me to bring on a DOP and sound crew, enabling me to focus on directing. Eventually, NZME assigned a project manager and in-house editor, and I was leading my own small film crew.
Brands
While shooting with Driven, I worked on automotive content featuring a range of major car brands including Hyundai, Land Rover, Porsche, Lamborghini, CEAT, Ford, and Toyota. The shoots involved fast-paced, detail-focused production, often on location and under tight timeframes. I personally drove a Honda during this time and, in a memorable moment, flew a drone into a tree, thankfully retrieved by local arborists. The experience sharpened my adaptability on set and deepened my understanding of automotive storytelling and branded content production.
